Because we recieved such bad response, we decided to give our own point of view. I fished in pool 19 and it was slightly getting dark already. The drill took me approximately over half an hour. My son took the fish and removed carefully the fly out of the mouth and try to rehabilitate him, so he could go back into his own inviroment. But because of the drill, the fish was too exhausted to make it on it´s own. There was no chance of him to recover from the drill. Because of that fact we decided to keep him otherwise he would have died of exhaustion like so many other fish do in the river. I truely believe in the catch & release method.Within my 25 years of fishing at mörrum I put back plenty of fish already, even the bigger ones. In march 2009 we even put back two beautiful seatrouts and didn´t even keep them. That salmon wasn´t even my biggest one, I even caught one with over 22 kg. We were very upset about the fact that the drill was to exhausting for the salmon and because of that we decided to release the salmon of his suffering and kill him. The salmon is going to artificially prepared to be displayed in the biggest fishing store in hamburg. The fact that the salmon will be displayed also means that mörrum will getlots of promotion and maybe will incurrage to go and fish in that beautiful river too. All the other flyfishers at mörrum or other rivers are actually helping to secure the wild salmon. A lot of the funding and financing that was collected for the preservation of salmons is done by those people who fish there and pay for fishing. I am very disappointed in those often received comments I came across. I am already going to mörrum over half a century and I only ever had positive experiences with the locals. For me there are no differences between locals and foreigners, the time for racism has past already a long time ago. We were three fisherman in pool 19 and we had to decide what best to do with the salmon and we hope that the fact that the fish will be displayed will bring lots of promotion and advertising for mörrum and maybe incurrage other flyfisher to visit mörrum. I want to say thank you to Percy and Ulf and all the others who were carefully thinking about their comments and were actually congratulating me. I will keep on releasing salmon, I can´t even count the amount I released up upon today and I hope that the following season will be a great one and I wish everyone to catch their fish of the lifetime. Many Thanks, Olaf Brüggen
