Nordic Footprints extends tourist season in Idre

Press release | 11/19/2008

Sveaskog and Nordic Footprints AB have signed an agreement that will run for three years. The agreement relates to a hunting lease for small game in the area of Vegån, south-east of Idre, covering around 1,600 hectares.

“We are constantly looking for new hunting and fishing grounds in order to offer existing and new customers nature experiences. The agreement with Sveaskog provides us with this opportunity, which is very pleasing,” comments Samuel Jacoby, Nordic Footprints AB.

Sveaskog has a clear task to promote nature-based tourism, which is primarily accomplished by leasing land and water to local tourism entrepreneurs.

“The partnership with Nordic Footprints has huge potential. The area that the company has as its base, southern Sälen to northern Idre, is an attractive area for skiing. The company’s activities extend the tourist season, and tourists can also be offered nature experiences and activities in the area in spring, summer and autumn,” comments Gunilla Andersson, company lease officer at Sveaskog.

Family company Nordic Footprints was started in 2007 and offers packaged nature experiences with a focus on hunting, fishing and hiking with expert guides. The starting point is personal service, small groups and rich nature experience. Hunting guests consist of both Swedish hunters without their own land and foreign hunters looking for exclusive hunts such as woodland bird hunting and grouse shooting. Activities currently stretch from Northern Dalarna via Jämtland to Estonia.

“On the land in question, there is already an existing hunting team looking for big game. But thanks to our clear agreement and cooperation with tourism companies and hunting teams, we can make the land available to more entrepreneurs,” says Gunilla.
