Nature conservation strategy

Effective tools for effective nature conservation.

Our ambition is to prioritise the environment above all else on 20% of our productive forest land. We have assigned 650,000 hectares to nature conservation land using three effective tools: production forests, nature conservation forests and eco-parks. Using these tools in the forms, respectively, of individual trees, whole forests and forest landscapes, we provide the various species of the forest with the means to survive. We also work actively with nature conservation in mountain forests.

Nature conservation forests

No forestry operations at all are run in our nature conservation forests, only nature conservation. In total there are 300,000 hectares of forest with high nature values that we are protecting or improving. This is the largest investment in nature conservation ever in Sweden.

Consideration for nature in production forests

It is in production forests that we run our forestry operations. When we fell forest, we take nature into consideration by, for example, leaving groups of trees, dead and old trees. We plan this carefully in good time before felling. Our forest is FSC® certified.

Ecoparks

Our ecoparks are extensive forest landscapes with high nature values. The unique ecologies of each park are protected through individual conservation plans. We have established 36 ecoparks, the majority of which have been inaugurated. They attract many visitors.
