In order to meet customers' requests for an even flow of timber of certain quality and dimensions, Sveaskog complements wood raw material from its own forests with that from other forest owners in Sweden.
Timber purchase allows us to delivery different types of raw material to the industries situated close to our forests. By being able to contribute to a strong forest industry with short transportation distances for raw materials, we guarantee and develop the value of our own forests in the long term.
We work together with a network of some 8,000 forest owners. These are mainly individual forest owners without their own resources for felling and transportation. The majority of timber purchases also entail Sveaskog taking responsibility for forestry plans, felling plans, felling, transportation, land preparation and regeneration.
Sveaskog's presence in the market as a timber purchaser, has contributed to increased transparency and has increased the competition for timber. This is to the benefit of all forest owners.
