To fish the season

Fishing in the Mörrumsån during a fishing season from March to September means great variations and conditions for both you and the fish. The water level in Mörrumsån can vary from 100 m³/s to 7 m³/s. The water temperature also varies greatly during a fishing season, between 0 and 25 degrees. The factors are many, here you will get a guide to succeed throughout the season.

To fish March & April

Conditions

By tradition, the fishing season in Mörrumsån starts at the end of March. During March and April there are often high water levels in the river, ranging from approx. 100 to 30 m³/s. The water temperature is low, ranging from about 0 to 10 degrees. It is possible to catch salmon or sea trout on all of Mörrum's Kronolaxfiskets stretches during the period March and April.

Fishing equipment/bait

Fishing in high water levels means you need to get down with your bait deeper. Suggested a full sinking line down to sink 5–7 or connect lines where the main line is sinking which is connected to sink tips (ex sink 4 belly with sink 6 tip) For those who fish with spin, bait weights down to 40 grams are recommended. Keep in mind that the choice of sinking grades on fly lines and bait weights varies depending on the level of water. Flies should be between 5-12 cm long with clear bright colors such as red, silver, gold, yellow, orange, pink, purple with a black or brown upper wing. For spinning lures, the same length and colors apply. Spoons with a long and narrow profile and spinners are recommended. Choice of lines for spin fishing, nylon 0.35-0.40 mm or braided line 0.20 mm.

Fishing strategy

When the water levels are high and the water temperature is low, it is important to fish your bait slowly. Look for calmer water, preferably fish with a straighter cast (90 degree angle). Read the water carefully and fish downstream, do not stay in the same spot for more than 3 casts before moving a few meters downstream.

Other Keep in mind that during this time it is cold both in the air and in the water. Dress warm!

To fish May & June

Conditions

During May and June, water levels vary from approx. 30 to 10 m³/s. Water temperature from about 8 to 20 degrees. The water level can drop gradually or sharply during the month of May. During the entire month of June, the water flow varies slightly, about 15 m³/s to 8 m³/s. It is possible to catch salmon and sea trout on all Mörrum's Kronolaxfiskets stretches during the period May and June, except for the Härnäs stretch. The possibility of catching a salmon or sea trout on the Härnäs stretch is available at the beginning of May if spring is late.

Fishing equipment/bait

Water levels between 30 m³/s and 15 m³/s can be suggested using a sinking line down to sink 3–4 or connect lines where the main line sinks and which is connected to sink tips (ex intermediate/ s3 with s3 tip) Water levels between 15 m³/s and 10 m³/s have a full-sinking line playing its role. Therefore, use connect lines where the main line is floating and which is connected to sink tips (ex. Floating belly with intermediate or down to sink 3 tip) For those who fish with spin, bait weights between 30 and 10 grams are recommended. Keep in mind that the choice of sinking grades on fly lines and bait weights varies depending on the flow of water.

The flies should be between 2-8 cm long. In line with increasing temperatures in the water and lower water flows, we fish with smaller and darker color tones in the baits we use. Colors like red, yellow, brown, black, copper, gold with black or brown upper wing. For spinning lures, the same length and colors apply. Spoons with a long and narrow profile and spinners are recommended. Choice of lines for spin fishing, nylon 0.35-0.40 mm or braided line 0.20 mm.

Fishing strategy

When the water flow is around 10 m³/s, we have less opportunity to influence the speed of the bait. Therefore, look for places on our fishing stretches where water does not become stagnant/slow. Read the water carefully and fish downstream, do not stay in the same spot for more than 3 casts before moving a few meters downstream.

To fish July to September

Conditions

From July to the last fishing day on September 30, the water level varies from approx. 7 to 15 m³/s. Most of the time, the water flow is very stable for longer periods. Water temperatures from about 13 to 25 degrees. It is possible to catch salmon and sea trout on all of Mörrum's Kronolaxfiskets stretches during the period July to September. During the month of July, it is not relevant to fish on the Härnäs stretch, fishing on Härnäs usually starts during the first week of August.

Fishing equipment/bait

Water levels between 15 m³/s and 7 m³/s are best fished with connect lines where the main line is floating, and which is connected to an intermediate tip or max down to sink 3 tip. For those who fish with spin, bait weights between 12 and 5 grams are recommended. Keep in mind that the choice of sinking grades on fly lines and bait weights varies depending on the flow of water. The flies should be between 2-8 cm long. In line with increased temperatures in the water and lower water levels, we fish with smaller and darker color tones in the judgment we use. Colors like red, yellow, brown, black, copper, gold with black or brown upper wing. For spinning lures, the same length and colors apply. Spoons with a long and narrow profile and spinners are recommended. Choice of lines for spin fishing, nylon 0.30-0.35 mm or braided line 0.15 mm.

Fishing strategy

When the water flow is around 10 m³/s, we have less opportunity to influence the speed of the bait. Therefore, look for places on our fishing stretches where water does not become stagnant/slow. During the summer months it is very effective to fish at dusk and during the night. Read the water carefully and fish downstream, do not stay in the same spot for more than 3 casts before moving a few meters downstream.
